Principal Secretary for Environment, Eng. Festus Ng'eno, together with Principal Secretary for Health, Harry Kimtai, and the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) from Kenya Forestry, joined the Kenya Development Corporation (KDC) in a vibrant tree planting exercise at Kaptagat Girls in Elgeyo Marakwet County. This collaborative effort brought together government officials, students, and local community members, all united by a shared commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. The event underscored the importance of nurturing young environmental champions and fostering a culture of tree growing among the youth.

The tree planting initiative at Kaptagat Girls is part of the broader #TreeGrowing campaign, which aims to restore Kenya’s forest cover and mitigate the effects of climate change. By involving key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Health, the exercise highlighted the power of multi-sectoral partnerships in achieving national reforestation goals. As more trees take root in Elgeyo Marakwet, the community is set to benefit from improved air quality, enhanced biodiversity, and greater environmental resilience for generations to come.
