Today, in a coordinated effort with state agencies under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), we reached out to flood victims in Westlands constituency, delivering essential relief items to those most affected. The initiative was spearheaded by Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, Principal Secretary for Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana, and Westlands MP Hon. Tim Wanyonyi. The distribution, conducted at the Westlands Constituency Office, provided over 500 families with vital supplies such as food, blankets, mattresses, and sanitary items. These efforts aimed to address the immediate needs of residents whose homes and livelihoods were disrupted by the recent unprecedented floods.
During the event, MP Wanyonyi expressed gratitude for the swift response from MITI, acknowledging the challenges brought by the heavy rains and the importance of continued support for vulnerable families. CS Miano highlighted the ministry’s commitment to not only provide emergency relief but also support long-term recovery and resilience, especially for women and small businesses impacted by the disaster. PS Dr. Mukhwana emphasized the need for environmental stewardship to prevent future flooding, echoing calls for better urban planning and nature conservation. Together, these leaders reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring that no one in Westlands is left behind as the community rebuilds and recovers
